Access-based attendance: what factories should standardize first
How factories can use trusted access events for attendance while keeping raw security logs, shift rules, overtime, exceptions, and audit history clear.
For factories, attendance is not only a time-clock problem. The useful model connects shifts, access zones, valid credentials, and event history so HR, security, and operations can work from the same trusted source.
Do not turn every door event into payroll
Access-based attendance should not copy every door-open event directly into payroll. A better approach is to keep raw access events immutable, then apply attendance rules on top: shift start, shift end, late arrival, early leave, overtime, missed check-out, and manager-approved exceptions.
Define valid attendance points first
- Production workers may use a shop-floor gate or production-zone entry point
- Office staff may use a lobby or administration entrance
- Contractors need temporary rights by job, area, and expiry date
- Visitors and delivery teams should stay visible in the security audit trail without entering attendance results
Keep raw events separate from attendance results
Factories should retain the original event from the device, the rule applied to it, any manual correction, and the approval trail. HR gets a clean timesheet, while security keeps the real event history for investigation.
Where Duall Master fits
Duall Master connects Attendance and Access Control on the same identity, device, event, and audit foundation. Devices continue to make access decisions locally under an offline-first model, while the server synchronizes policy and aggregates events for attendance review and investigation.
