Cloud, on-premise, or hybrid access control?
How to choose a deployment model for access control: operations, data policy, offline-first devices, audit logs, integrations, and expansion.
Choosing between cloud, on-premise, and hybrid access control is not only an IT hosting decision. For physical security, the better question is how the deployment model supports site operations, data policy, auditability, integrations, and continuity when the network is unstable.
When cloud fits best
Cloud is often a good fit for offices, distributed sites, and teams that want centralized administration without maintaining servers at every location. It works well when administrators need to manage people, permissions, visitor workflows, and event review across multiple sites.
When on-premise fits best
On-premise is better for facilities with strict data-control, internal-network, or compliance requirements. It can suit government, healthcare, industrial, technical, or sensitive sites where identity records, audit logs, and related video data must stay within a controlled environment.
When hybrid becomes practical
Hybrid can work when an organization has mixed environments: some sites need local infrastructure, while others benefit from cloud administration. The key is keeping identity, policy, devices, events, and audit history consistent instead of creating disconnected systems.
Offline-first matters more than server location
Doors, gates, lifts, and turnstiles should not wait for a server round-trip before making every access decision. Valid permissions should be synchronized to devices; devices decide locally; the server synchronizes policy and aggregates events for audit, reporting, and investigation.
Where Duall Master fits
Duall Master supports this model by placing Access Control, Visitor Management, Attendance, Parking, Video Management, and Video Intercom on the same identity, policy, device, event, and audit foundation. Teams can start with cloud, on-premise, or hybrid deployment, then expand module by module without rebuilding the operating model.
